About Us
Welcome

Star is a school of opportunity. As a large College, we are able to provide a broad range of subjects designed to meet all interests and abilities. We are very proud of our high academic standards and our inclusive philosophy.

Our co-curricular program is equally vibrant and varied. Learning at Star is not confined to the time between ringing bells.

It is alive with activity well before lessons commence and late into the afternoon.

We firmly believe that young women learn best in an environment where they are known, cared for and supported. We take great pride in our excellent and comprehensive Pastoral Care program.

This website provides an insight into life at Star. Enjoy your discovery of our remarkable College.

Mission Statement

Star of the Sea College educates young women spiritually, academically, physically and creatively in a compassionate Catholic context. We strive to empower young women to engage in critical reflection leading to positive action for our world.

Guiding Principles

  • Fostering Faith
  • Teaching and Learning with passion and excellence
  • Nurturing compassion and community
  • Being energised by change

  • Striving for Justice
  • Celebrating the Presentation Mission
  • Developing independence, initiative and leadership

Learning Areas

Girls are educated within structures which are liberating rather than constraining and challenged to be responsible for their own learning and the decisions they make. They are supported in developing a confident approach to the technological developments that have enriched modern education.

Career Education

The College has an extensive Careers Education Program and a full time Careers Educator, Mark Weegberg.

Students in Years 10 to 12 are assisted in developing study and career pathways through developing the skills and knowledge to understand their strengths, interests and aspirations through classroom activities, a well resourced Careers Centre and an extensive counselling service.

In addition, Star of the Sea College has an extensive range of Vocational Education Programs run in conjunction with major Tertiary and Further Education (TAFE) colleges that enable students to explore vocational pathways as part of their VCE studies.

Parent and students are welcome to contact the Careers Centre to make an appointment to discuss their Careers and Pathways planning.

Staff - Professional Learning
