Thank you for your interest in St Patrick's Catholic School located on the North West Coast of Tasmania in the municipality of Latrobe. St Patrick's is a small school with single stream classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Presently we have 150 students and we are proud of the warm, welcoming and secure environment we are able to provide.
Our mission as a school is to educate your child/ren in combination with you their parents/carers. We offer a curriculum that is comprehensive, engaging and modelled on NSW Mathematics and English and we are beginning to implement the Australian Curriculum. We are also able to offer specialist Music, Physical Education and LOTE classes.
Currently St Patrick's School utilises its 1998 curriculum documentation for Language other than English (Japanese), Science and Technology, and The Arts. The school has adopted, in common with all Tasmanian Catholic parish primary schools, The NSW Mathematics Curriculum.
The NSW English Curriculum was adopted by St Patrick's School in 2006 after an 18 month trial.
The NSW Personal Development, Health and Physical Education is currently being used by our PE teacher, while other aspects of this curriculum are derived from the Statements and Profiles. Informing the teaching and learning programs, staff are developing their familiarity with Commonwealth's Statements of Learning in Civics and Citizenship, English, Mathematics, Science.
