About Us

Southern Grampians Adult Education (SGAE) was established in 1997 as a Learn Local Organisation and became a Registered Training Organisation in 1998.

SGAE was established in response to the identified education and training needs of the Southern Grampians Community, and continues to develop programs in response to the ever-changing needs within our community.

In 2013, SGAE became a registered Senior Secondary Education Provider, providing the opportunity for learners to complete Years 11 or 12 in an alternative learning environment.

SGAE has a particular focus on Foundation Skills Training, improving language, literacy and numeracy levels to provide the basic skills to enable pathways into further education, training and employment for all members of our community.

SGAE aims to promote lifelong learning through education programs for individuals from a broad cross section of the community. SGAE has a strong emphasis on the disadvantaged, providing education and support for adults and youth with an intellectual and/or physical disability, low level literacy and numeracy, short and long-term unemployed, people at risk, the aged community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and adults from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

SGAE continues to look at new ways of engaging our community in education and training with a focus on providing lifelong learning, continuing education for independent living and life skills, and building confidence and a sense of community belonging for all members within our community.
