Welcome to Southern Cross Care Broken Hill.
In Broken Hill, the vision of Southern Cross Care is to provide high quality care with compassion to the residents in their senior years and at a time of great vulnerability. This vision is in keeping with the example of the compassion shown by Jesus for those most in need.
In working towards our vision, we aim to provide well trained staff, appropriate facilities for the care we provide and services that are underpinned by a sound financial structure. Thus ensuring ongoing accreditation as an age care provider. In recognising each person in our care as an individual, Pastoral Care is an integral part of the culture of Southern Cross Care.
Although our Aged Care Facilities are privately owned the Residents fees are subsidised by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and all fees charged are set by that Department.
Before the admission of a new Resident can be arranged an assessment is made and the need for aged care is established either by the Regional Geriatrician or General Practitioner and the ACAT team and applicable paper work completed.
When seeking Aged Care accommodation for a relative or friend it is always advisable to visit the Aged Care Facility and see personally what services are available. It is also advised that where and when possible the prospective Resident visit the Aged Care Facility prior to admission.
At Southern Cross Care Broken Hill Ltd we aim to provide our Residents with the best care and service possible.
Although from humble beginnings, Southern Cross Care has continued to provide accommodation to the frail and aged citizens of Broken Hill and the Far West of New South Wales.
2011 will see the opening of 26 independent living units at the War Vets Retirement Living site, 169 Thomas Street, Broken Hill.
There are future plans on the drawing board to ensure that seniors seeking a more independent lifestyle can continue to look to Southern Cross Care for a happy, secure, worry free retirement.
How Can I Help?
Southern Cross Care is a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to providing the best available care to the elderly.
Donations and bequests are wonderful way to support our work now and into the future. They are an important source of income that directly benefits residents and clients through the purchase of equipment, furnishings and lifestyle activities.
All donations including In Memoriam donations are acknowledged with a personal letter of thanks. Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible and a receipt is issued.
All donations to Southern Cross Care, no matter how large or small are highly Valued and gratefully received.
