The SANFL grows and promotes football throughout South Australia from indigenous communities, school and club footy right through to League level.
We are the custodians for footy in South Australia and as such, we are the organisation that works in the best interests of football to realise its full potential at all levels.
Services We Offer
The SA Football Commission manages and controls the affairs of the SANFL, including its major financial investments and the appointment of committees.
The Commission comprises seven non-executive elected members, two non-executive appointed Commissioners and the Executive Commissioner.
Elected Commissioners are appointed for a three-year terms by the League Directors and appointed Commissioners are appointed by the elected Commissioners for one year terms.
The Commission's actions are bound by the Associations Incorporation Act, the SANFL Constitution and the League's own regulations
Why Choose Us?
The Magarey Medal has been awarded in every year of SANFL competition since 1898, with the exception of 1900 and 1904 and the World War I and World War II years.
After each match, the three field umpires award a 3, 2 and 1 point vote to the players they regarded the best, second best and third best on ground respectively.
A player becomes ineligible for the Medal if he is suspended for a reportable offence during the season.
The votes are tallied at the end of the minor round to determine the year's Magarey Medallist.
