About Us

Since the 1970’s, many a chef experimented with traditional Indian food, in a bid to take its best bits and create a modern, and perhaps more westernised version of the deliciously spicy and unique cuisine. Modern Indian has since exploded in popularity on a global scale, and Australians have found themselves amidst a plethora of incredible Indian food, spoilt for choice and diversity.

Sridhar Penumechu recognised this craze in 2005 and opened Saffron Indian Gourmet in Broadbeach, to provide an Indian restaurant with a difference to the people of the Gold Coast.
