The Regional Council of Goyder covers an area of 6,681km2 within the Mid North of South Australia, extending from south of Eudunda to north of Terowie. Our population of 4,360 people live in ten main townships, smaller settlements and the surrounding rural hinterland. The Goyder region is renowned for its cereal crops, wool, sheep, cattle and other livestock production & well preserved mining & pastoral heritage. The Council area is named after George Woodroofe Goyder, whose famous Goyder's Line crosses the Council area, distinguishing distinct climatic zones which have influenced settlement patterns and continue to impact on the nature of agricultural and pastoral enterprises. The larger townships of Eudunda and Burra are served with hospitals, schools, recreation & sporting facilities & community meeting places. Our Region
The Regional Council of Goyder, proclaimed on 3rd February 1997 as a result of the amalgamation of the former District Councils of Burra Burra, Eudunda, Hallett & Robertstown, is named after George Woodroffe Goyder whose famous Goyder's Line traverses the Council region.
The Goyder Council region, situated in the mid-north of South Australia, now comprises of four Wards - Burra, Eudundam Hallett & Robertstown, which between them are made up of 24 towns.
- Hallett Ward: Whyte, Terowie, Wonna, Ketchowla, Anne, Hallett, Tomkinson
- Burra Ward: Ayers, Kingston, Mongolata, Rees, Hanson, Kooringa, Baldina, King
- Robertstown Ward: Apoinga, Bright, English, Bundey, Bower
- Eudunda Ward: Julia Creek, Brownlow, Neales, Dutton

FAQs
How do I pay for my Council Rates?
The Council is no longer able to accept payments for council rates via the online bizgate service. Ratepayers can make payment through Mail or BPay or in person at any of our council offices or agencies (to view the list of agencies, visit our website www.goyder.sa.gov.au/page.aspx?u=429). If paying via mail, payments should be sent to 1 Market Square Burra SA 5417. Payments can also be made at any rural branch of Bank SA or using BPay through any participating bank.
When are my Council rates due?
For quarterly billing, the account for payment of Council rates will be posted at least 30 days prior to the due date for payment each quarter. Due dates for quarterly payment in 2017/18 are 8th September 2017, 8th December 2017, 9th March 2018 & 8th June 2018. What day does my waste bin get collected?

What can I put in my recycling bin?
Residents are reminded that the recycling bin contents are sorted by hand & the following items CAN be placed in the recycling bin: Glass - all glass bottles & jars, All Plastic Containers - with tops off (no plastic containers), Cans - steel & aluminium, Cartons - milk & juice, Paper & Cardboard - clean newspaper, magazines, writing paper, cardboard or phone books.
What can't I put in my recycling bin?
Residents are reminded that the recycling bin contents are sorted by hand & the following items are NOT to be placed in the recycling bin: Broken Toys, Bubble Wrap, Ceramics - crockery, terracotta, broken glass, Cling Film, Foam, Food Scraps, Nappies, Plants, Shredded Paper, Tapes, Twine, Weeds, Garden & Household Waste, Plastic Bags, Oil, Acids & Chemicals, Clothing, Hard Materials - concrete, rocks, bricks, timber.
Do I need to register my DOG with the council?
All dogs from 3 months old MUST be registered with the council. Registration forms are available from the Burra and Eudunda Council Offices or can be downloaded from our website, www.goyder.sa.gov.au/animalmanagement. All dog registration renewals must be paid by the last working day in August. Information on dog registration & pound fees can be found on our website www.goyder.sa.gov.au/animalmanagement.
Do I need to register my CAT with the council?
Cat registration is NOT compulsory within the Regional Council of Goyder, however in the interest of animal welfare the Council has developed a system in an attempt to ensure your cat's safe return to you. Once registered we will organise an ID tag to be worn on a cat's collar with the council's contact details & an ID number which will correspond to an entry on a register at Council's Offices at Burra and Eudunda.
