QBD (Queensland Book Depot) was started in the late 1890s by the Uniting Church as a retail business selling religious material. Over the many years leading up to the 1980s QBD developed into a major retailer in Queensland. By this time QBD had 50 stores across Queensland selling a large range of religious and general books, stationery plus specialising in student text books.
