At Peter Mac we treat more cancer patients each year than any other hospital in Australia and our highly skilled medical, nursing and allied health team is backed by the largest cancer research group in the country.
Every day at Peter Mac, teams of researchers investigate cancer at the laboratory bench, in the clinic and at the patient bedside: our perpetual research cycle is unique in cancer in Australia.
In this section you will find a range of information about being a patient at Peter Mac, including practical information to help you prepare for your first appointment, information about different types of cancer, diagnostic tests, genetic risk and treatment at Peter Mac.
It also includes information about the range of services available to provide you, your families and carers with practical and emotional support.
At the heart of everything we do are patients: from the laboratory to the clinic, over 520 laboratory scientists, clinician-researchers, research nurses and other health professionals are determined in their efforts to find better treatments and to improve patient care.
People with cancer are also able to contribute to Australia's largest cancer research program, by sharing their thoughts, or donating blood or cancer tissue, to help improve outcomes for other people with cancer, everywhere.
Peter Mac is an active learning organisation where staffs are committed to a knowledge environment. A major part of Peter Mac's education program involves providing support for undergraduate and postgraduate cancer medical, research, nursing and allied health students in the classroom, at the laboratory bench and in the clinic.
Through affiliation with universities and other registered training organisations, Peter Mac continues to expand its involvement in programs that prepare staff for local workplace responsibilities.
Together, we can find new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancers.
The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is internationally recognised for helping to lead the search for cancer cures, but we rely on people like you to help make new discoveries possible.
Your support will fund life-saving cancer research, new research opportunities, and will help give every person with cancer the best chance of cure.
