Dr Meads is a fully qualified Hand Surgeon living in Newcastle Australia.
Dr Meads studied medicine at the University of Auckland. He completed his orthopaedic surgical training in 1999, gaining a fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgery.
Dr Meads undertook a further 18 months of subspecialty training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney Hospital and St Lukes Hospital. He then worked as a Consultant Hand Surgeon at Sydney and St Lukes Hospitals, with private rooms in Macquarie Street for 10 years. He also started working in Newcastle in late 2002. He has appointments at Newcastle Private Hospital, Lingard Private Hospital and Lake Macquarie Private Hospital . Dr Bryce Meads has extensive experience in carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes, Dupuytren's disease, arthritis of the hand and wrist including joint replacements. He has a particular interest in arthroscopic wrist surgery including injuries to the scapholunate ligament and TFCC.
Dr Bryce Meads also works as a Senior VMO at the John Hunter Hospital and Belmont Hospital. Through being on call he maintains his acute hand trauma skills including replantations, microsurgery and complex fractures of the hand and wrist. Dr Meads is also involved in teaching junior doctors hand surgery and is involved in research to further knowledge and understanding of hand and wrist surgery.
Dr Meads set up the Hand Surgery Centre in 2005 in the Newcastle Private Specialist Centre to treat exclusively conditions of the hand and wrist. This was set up in association with the Hand Therapy Centre. The Hand Surgery Centre was the first integrated specific hand practice in Newcastle.
