About Us
The Hunter Development Corporation (HDC) is the primary driver and coordinator of economic development in the Hunter region. HDC works with local government, other state agencies, the community and the private sector to encourage investment in strategic sites.

HDC’s chief objectives include creating economic growth, stimulating new housing supply and employment and unlocking value for government in HDC’s Growth Centre, encompassing the 10 local government areas of the Hunter.

Known for rehabilitating and developing the iconic Honeysuckle project, HDC now leads the Revitalising Newcastle Program, oversees the implementation of the Hunter Regional Plan 2036, and is also remediating former BHP landholdings at Mayfield and Kooragang Island in preparation for redevelopment and employment generation.

HDC also administers the Newcastle Mines Grouting Fund and the Newcastle Port Community Contribution Fund.

Hunter Development Corporation is passionate about lifting the standard on design, ensuring that the built form is designed to add vibrancy, and that the public domain is designed to attract people.
