The CMA was established in 1997 as the peak natural resource management body in the catchment to develop and oversee the implementation of the Regional Catchment Strategy. The CMA is overseen by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister for Environment and Water and works closely with the community and partner organisations to deliver on ground solutions to environmental issues.
The Authority, using the provisions of Section.180 of the Water Act 1989 has established three geographically based Implementation Committees.
These committees are responsible for developing in conjunction with, the local community and, putting in place on-ground works under the GB CMA's broad strategies. They provide a valuable link between the community and the CMA Board. the Implementation Committees have been assigned responsibility for developing an annual program of natural resource management activities across the Catchment.Programs:
Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority delivers environmental outcomes through a range of programs including river health, biodiversity, and floodplain management.
The programs are delivered in partnership with landholders, Landcare, the Victorian and Australian Governments and their agencies and the wider community.
Three geographically based implementation committees provide valuable community links and assist in prioritising the delivery of the programs that are identified in the Goulburn Broken Regional Catchment Strategy.
