The Fire Services Museum of Victoria's purpose and main aimis to collect, preserve, display and interpret items pertaining to the history,concept of fire fighting and fire safety in Victorta.

Open Hours - from 19th May 2022

The Museum itself is normally open to the public as follows:
Thursdays and Fridays 9am to 3pm,
and Sundays 10am to 4pm.
Groups and schools at other days and times by arrangement.
Tours of the fleet workshop are by arrangement only.

Family Tickets (2 Adults, 2 Children) - $18

a) as advertised at the Museum Entry
b) on current advertising controlled by the Museum.

All pricing at the Museum is subject to change without notice. We have nocontrol over other sites or advertising which may list our pricing incorrectly.When advised of incorrect or old pricing we will contact those concerned.

We are a not-for-profit organisation and as a service to our visitors weendeavour keep our entry prices as low as possible. Admission fees anddonations are used to update and maintain the Museum, displays andvehicles/equipment. Tax deductable donations to the Museum can be made here

Museum

Located in the former Headquarters Station of the MelbourneMetropolitan Fire Brigade, the award winning Fire ServicesMuseum Victoria, was opened in 1979 to provide a home and focus for thehistory of fire fighting services in Victoria. The Museum includes a collectionof over 10,000 fire related items collected both nationallyand internationally and including Country Fire Authority, MelbourneMetropolitan Fire Brigade and Fire Rescue Victoria fire appliances, personnelhistories, memorabilia and associated items.

Museum Personnel

Most of the Museum Personnel are retired fire fighters andcan offer a lively story or two about their craft and it's history. The Museumis a not for profit organisation and all personnel are volunteers. If you areinterested in helping out please have a look at our membership page

The Fire Services Museum Victoria has twolocations. The main Museum Display Area is conveniently located at 39 GisborneStreet, East Melbourne. The Restoration Workshops are locatedin Newport and are open to the public by appointment.

School and/or Group Visits
Bookings for group tours of the Museum and Newport Workshops can be arrangedduring and outside normal operating hours by making a booking with the BookingsOfficer on (03) 9662 2907 or 0418 129 252. We ask that you try and book atleast two – three weeks in advance to ensure we can have museum membersavailable for your group.

The museum and museum vehicles can also be booked for special occasions such asweddings, birthdays and promotional events, etc by simply contacting theBookings Officer on the above details. Please Note: The Museum cannotprovide Childrens rides.

Museum Shop
The souvenir shop at the Fire Services Museum Victoria stocksa range of fire history related items for children and adults.

A range of mini fire trucks, fire safety CDs, fire hats, teeshirts and other items just for kids. Reproductions of the historical InsuranceMarks, fire patches, traditional helmets and other history related items areavailable for bigger kids !!

Please note, the Museum now has EFTPOS & credit cardfacilities.

Restoration Workshops
For fire fighting appliance enthusiasts, the Fire Vehicle and ApplianceRestoration Workshops are located in Newport. The restoration team (allvolunteers) at Newport welcome visitors by arrangement. All vehicles arerestored to near as original as possible, bearing in mind that many"unique" modifications where made to vehicles and appliances in FireBrigade workshops, by Firemen Engineers, as and when required. Volunteers andvisitors are welcome.
