What are Cataracts & Glaucoma’s?

What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a disease process that affects the optic nerve. This characteristically causes the loss of peripheral vision, leading in more severe cases to tunnel vision or even blindness. Glaucoma is often associated with elevated pressure within the eye, though this is not always the case.

What is a cataract?

A cataract is when the normally clear crystalline lens behind the cornea becomes cloudy. This degrades the quality of vision and in severe cases can lead to blindness.

What are Pterygiums & ARMD's?

What is a Pterygium?

Like our skin the surface of the eye is susceptible to damage from the sun. Pterygium can appear as a pale pink wedge shaped growth from the white inner part of the eye onto the cornea.

What is ARMD: Age related Macular Degeneration?

Age related Macular Degeneration is one of the leading causes of vision loss amongst older Australians. It consists of a number of disease processes that affect the macula, that part of the retina which subserves central vision and enables us to perceive detail.
