The founding father of DiGiorgio Family Wines, Stefano DiGiorgio, arrived in Australia from Italy on July 9th, 1952.

Apart from a brief stint on his arrival and a later move to Queensland to take up a sugar cane cutting job, Stefano has always held interests in the Lucindale district of the Limestone Coast,
and has been acquiring land and developing farming businesses in the Lucindale district since first arriving. This was through the contracting of services to local councils and farmers.
From 1956, he and his family have worked in the area. During his early years in Australia Stefano worked in several farming operations and was admired for his ability to take on any challenge handed to him.

Winemaking
The DiGiorgio family are proud to have one of Coonawarra's most renowned and respected winemakers, Peter Douglas, in charge of winemaking. Peter, often referred to as 'Coonawarra's master of Cabernet', has tremendous experience in the district, having been chief winemaker at Wynns Coonawarra Estate for 14 years.
Peter has also traveled extensively, making wine in France, Italy, Tunisia and the Americas as well as consulting to many clients in the Limestone Coast. Peter is passionate about the Limestone Coast and Coonawarra, and their place amongst the great wine regions of the world.
