Chas Smith (Stewart’s father) originally started the business in about 1972. On his passing the business was run by Jim Chester on behalf of Dalgety’s. In 1987 Stewart returned to Bega after spending 2 years in Glen Innes to work with Jim. They decided to change the trading name to Chester & Smith Pty Ltd
