Blacktown Meals on Wheels Service
Meals on Wheels is a name familiar to Australians and is at the heart of many communities. It represents helping hands, teamwork and looking out for each other. It is all about people in the community joining forces to help others.
Whilst age and disability may reduce some people's capacity to get out and about, Meals on Wheels help make it possible for them to stay in their homes, where most are happiest, and maintain their independence. Delivery of nutritious meals, social interaction and a friendly check of a client's wellbeing by Meals on Wheels volunteers can help people live the lives they choose.
Services We Offer
Almost every day, more than 15,000 people throughout New South Wales are helped by about 190 local Meals on Wheels/Food Service organisations. At last count, just over 35,000 volunteers were regularly giving their time and skills to this essential community service.
A manager or coordinator is employed by most organisations to manage the running of local services and some with their own kitchens, who also pay for the services of cooks whom willing volunteers often assist. Whether paid staff or unpaid volunteers, the passion to help and bring care and respect into each and every client's life is the same.
Why Choose Us?
Meals on Wheels enables frail older people and younger people with disabilities and their carers to remain in their own homes and enjoy a level of independence and style of living to suit their individual needs - we enjoy supporting our clients to achieve health and wellbeing!
We have been responsive to the needs of the community for the past 60 years and will continue to in decades to come. If someone calls for a meal today we are immediately responsive to that persons individual needs.
