About Us
Austrak was founded in Australia in 1980. Since then, we have grown to be Australia’s largest railway sleeper manufacturer and a world leader in sleeper design and production technologies.
We have produced in excess of 20 million sleepers for rail projects across Australia and around the world. We are a leader and innovator in the design and manufacture of pre-stressed concrete sleepers and turnout bearers.
Austrak designs, constructs, commissions and operates its own sleeper manufacturing plants.
Since 2006, Austrak has been a fully-owned subsidiary company of the Laing O’Rourke Group.
This gives us the strong financial backing of a global development and construction company. As a privately-owned company, Laing O’Rourke fully supports Austrak’s focus on innovation and re-investing in the company.
