What does Alstom do?

Alstom is a global leader in the world of power generation, transmission and rail infrastructure and sets the benchmark for innovative and environmentally friendly technologies. In Australia and New Zealand, Alstom employs around 1000 people and has workshops or factories in every state.

Alstom Power in Australia

Alstom is a global leader in the world of power generation and sets the benchmark for innovative and environmentally conscious technologies.

We employ over 96,500 people across the world. Alstom employs over 1000 people in Australia and has a presence in every state.

We design, manufacture and supply a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art products and systems for the power generation and industrial markets. This includes gas, coal, nuclear, wind, geothermal, solar and hydro power. Our objective is to build the most efficient and cleanest integrated power solutions for our customers.


The Australian Leader in Urban Transport

Australia continues to represent a strong market for Alstom's Transport Sector, both through its partnership with UGL and through continued direct support and supply to the rail market.

Throughout Australia, Alstom has established key references over a broad range of product lines and customers. Major rolling stock contracts and associated maintenance services for regional and suburban trains continue to run in both New South Wales and Victoria for the Millennium train and Hillside networks respectively.


Alstom Grid in Australia

Alstom Grid has been a reliable partner to Utilities and Industry companies in Australia and New Zealand for one hundred years. Its Rocklea factory in Queensland has been manufacturing transformers for over 60 years. It now also boasts a strong, local service team.

Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney's Western region is home to the Alstom Grid's Australian headquarters as well as the Systems and Automation engineering teams.


Over the course of 2008 and 2009, Alstom delivered major equipment to Yarwun power station in QLD, and completed the gas-fired plants Kwinana in WA and Tallawarra in NSW.

Alstom is excited to be bringing its Wind, Carbon Capture and Smart Grid Technologies to Australia to help the country meet its Climate Change objectives.
