About Us

The Northwest's Premier Radio Station

We have been entertaining Tamworth and the surrounding Northwest region for over 70 years and offer a diverse range of programs including talk back, current affairs, sports, music from the 1960s to a selection from today.

We offer regular news updates, produced here in Tamworth and also in Sydney, plus a variety of competitions, and community services.

Station History: 2TM has a long history with plenty of milestones.

We cover a few of them below.

  • 1935: 2TM opened February 27th on 1300 kilocycles by Ernest Higginbotham and Tom Whitcombe.
  • 1936: Transmission power increased to 1000 watts.
  • 1937: New transmitter in Duri (February).
  • 1942: 2TM Women's Radio Club formed.
  • 1947: 2TM Women's Radio Club becomes the All Charities Club.

I am a retired Physical Culture dancer and teacher - driving over to Tamworth regularly as a youngster to compete!

I love listening to people's stories, baking delicious food, laughing hysterically and playing and listening to music.
