What We Provide:
A 24-hour 7 day a week Safe, confidential and supportive crisis/short term accommodation. We provide clothing, food, hygiene facilities, emotional support & referrals to other services.
Case management, referrals, advocacy and networks to appropriate local and inter-state agencies and family members to ensure the outcomes of client identified goals.
A part time Children’s Worker five days a week providing safe environments for children to debrief, learn and play.
A transparent and accountable service with strongly outlined and accessible complaints/grievances procedures.
Emergency Relief Funding for women & children in crisis. By appointment, assessment criteria and dependent on funds available.
Outreach support for women who are living in the community or have left our accommodation and require/request ongoing assistance.
Counselling Service: This is a free confidential service available to any woman in the community.
Community Education Worker- raising awareness in the community of the effects of domestic violence and its effects on children, by providing and facilitating community education and awareness training, events and meetings throughout the Barkly Region.
Emotionally and culturally appropriate forums in which women are able to discuss domestic, family and social violence in an empowering environment.
Referrals to our service are accepted from a wide range of community agencies and organisations. Self-Referrals Are Accepted.
Assessment Criteria must be met for entry to our Crisis Accommodation Service. Capacity - 8 Beds in a Homelike Friendly Share Accommodation House.
Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge is the only DFV specialised Crisis Accommodation Service in the Barkly region.
We are committed to working in partnership with communitymembers and organisations to address community identified priorities.
We are currently funded to provide:
- Crisis Accommodation, support, referrals, case management and outreach - for any women and their children who are victims of or at risk of Domestic or family Violence.
- Domestic Violence Counselling Service including Community Education - for any women.
- Critical Intervention Outreach Service – outreach support and case management for Indigenous Women at Risk of DFV and their children– who are in Community.
- ER Funding for Families in Crisis – Food Vouchers/ Power Cards/ Material Aid/ Transport Assistance to escape DFV.
