On behalf of all the Tasmania University Union (TUU) student reps across the state, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all returning UTAS students. Also to the 'freshies', you are about to embark on a very exciting few years of your lives. One that you will always look back to with a smile!!
Whether you are new or old, the TUU is always here for you. The TUU (which is one of the oldest student unions in the country) will continue to do what it does best, which is to represent and be a strong voice for the students.
The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a medium-sized PUBLIC Australian university based in Tasmania, Australia. Officially founded on 1 January 1890, it was the fourth university to be established in nineteenth-century Australia. UTAS is a sandstone university and is a member of the international Association of Commonwealth Universities.
UTAS offers various undergraduate and graduate programs in a range of disciplines. UTAS has also been consistently ranked in the top 10 universities in Australia for research and has links with 20 specialist research institutes, cooperative research centres and faculty based research centres; all of which are regarded as nationally and internationally competitive leaders.
Housing and Accommodation
The TUU has over 550 rooms that are leased exclusively to UTAS Students. Our properties consist of both new and old with a range of configurations and styles.
The majority of our properties are at close proximity to the University, up to 2 kilometres away and ideal for those who do not want the expense of a vehicle.
Electricity, telephone and the internet are the responsibility of the tenant, and all costs associated with these facilities must be covered by the tenant. This is a great way to live, you have the ability to meet other university students from all over the world and share in life's rich culture.
We also offer short term accommodation in two nearby locations from 2 days to 3 months.
