About Us

Roseberry Qld is a non-profit company and registered charity. Roseberry is a community based organisation providing a range of services to meet the identified needs of young people and families who are experiencing difficulty.

Roseberry Qld was created, in the mid-1980s when a local committee was formed, to apply for funding for a youth shelter in Gladstone. The shelter, Roseberry House, as we now know it, was established in February 1986. The shelter was located at 6 Roseberry Street; hence its name being associated with the street - making it easier for young people to locate. In 2001 a new shelter was constructed at its present location in Rollo Street.

The shelter operated for a number of years and it became apparent that as young people left the shelter, they required ongoing support, if they were to live independently in the community. So, the organisation grew with the appointment of a Transition to Independent Living (TIL) Worker. A Family Support Worker was also employed, to offer support to families and young people, to keep the family unit functioning. Over the years, as needs were identified, additional funding was applied for. The Youth Development Program, branch out, was founded in 1998 and soon after, reconnect was funded. Our portfolio of services was expanded to include our Housing Programs and in November 2007 our services in Rockhampton. More recently headspace Gladstone and Parents Next have also been established.
