About Us

Loreto Kirribilli is an Independent Catholic day school with an enrolment of approximately 1040 girls from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school is one of many around the world directed by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), also known as the Loreto Sisters.

At Loreto Kirribilli we are proud to build on our four hundred year international heritage. We believe it is our privilege to continue the work of Mary Ward, who founded the IBVM in 1609. Mother Gonzaga Barry was the first leader of the Loreto Sisters in Australia, establishing a convent at Ballarat, Victoria in 1875 then Sydney in 1892.

Loreto Kirribilli is situated on a beautiful Sydney harbourside site with views across Careening Cove to Neutral Bay and is convenient to ferry, train and bus. The junior and senior schools are situated in separate buildings on the same campus, sharing many of the school's excellent facilities.

One of seven Loreto schools in Australia, Loreto Kirribilli was founded by the Loreto Sisters whose 17th Century founder, Mary Ward, recognised the critical difference that education could make to her troubled world, especially through the education, care and development of faith in women.

For a mind to be free, it must be open to knowledge and learning.

At Loreto Kirribilli, we believe in education that suits the needs of the student. We are not academically selective. We encourage extension at every level of ability. A Gifted and Talented Program is offered together with specialist support for those with learning difficulties.

Loreto Kirribilli strives to provide for the changing needs of our students. For education to be relevant in any age, it must try to provide the best possible equipment and surroundings. In the twenty first century, this means up-to-date computer and communication facilities, laboratories, library, arts and music facilities, all housed in purpose-built buildings.

Extra Curricular Activities

This is our vision: that Loreto schools offer a Catholic education which liberates, empowers and motivates students to use their individual gifts with confidence, creativity and generosity in loving and responsible service
