Lutheran Homes Inc. (now LHI Retirement Services) was founded in 1957, inspired by the vision of Mr and Mrs A.B. Schulze whose dream was to provide a very special home for retired people.
Over the years the generosity of Mr and Mrs Schulze enabled the village at Glynde to grow and by the mid-1980s it consisted of approximately 300 Independent Living Units, a Residential Care Facility, various community support facilities and a purpose-built church.
The demand for LHI’s service excellence and outstanding facilities continued to grow and in 1982 a further thirteen hectares of land were purchased at Hope Valley and LHI’s second village was established.
Our Mission and Vision
Our culture is based on Christian values and beliefs, particularly those of the Lutheran Church of Australia.
To reflect our Christianity we strive to ensure that Christian values and practices are integral to LHI and inherent in the following Vision and Mission statements.
To provide a Christian environment in which to serve our community through leadership and excellence.
Possibly unique in South Australia, the LHI Retirement Services village residents enjoy the reassurance of having access to dedicated village care teams, led by Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses, together with Community Aged Care Packages teams.
The first LHI village was established at Glynde in 1957 as a result of the generosity and vision of Mr and Mrs A.B. Schulze.
Today the complex is situated on 5.7 hectares of pleasant landscaped grounds and enjoys close proximity to shops.
The continuing demand for LHI's care services led to the development of our second village at Hope Valley.
The village enjoys a full range of services and is set on 13 hectares of spacious grounds and gardens.
- In the Residential Care area, LHI staff are on duty 24 hours each day, providing supported living in a caring environment for those who require assistance with daily living activities.
