About Us
Our Organisation

Hunter Water is a State-owned Corporation providing water and wastewater services to over half a million people in the lower Hunter region. There are 227,695 properties connected to the water network and 215,748 to the wastewater network. Our total assets are valued at approximately $3.5 billion.

Our area of operation covers 5,366km2 with a population of 560,603 in the local government areas of Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Dungog and small parts of Singleton.


Managing Your Account

At Hunter Water, we are committed to providing you with high quality products and services to meet your needs. We also want to make it as easy as possible for you to access information relating to your account quickly and easily.

As a Hunter Water customer, you will receive three accounts each year, each one covering a period of four months. The two main items on your Hunter Water account are service and usage charges.

The three Hunter Water billing cycles are:

  • 1 July to 31 October
  • 1 November to 28 February
  • 1 March to 30 June

Land & Property Development

Hunter Water facilitates the planning & provision of water services for sustainable land development in the lower Hunter & secures existing & future water infrastructure through the planning process & construction phase.

Homes use around 70 per cent of drinkable water in our region.

Community Funding Program

Hunter Water's Community Funding Program lets us give something back to the local community. * Calls from a fixed line anywhere in Australia to Hunter Water 1300 numbers are charged at a fixed rate. That rate may vary from the price of a local call and may also vary between telephone service providers. Calls from public and mobile phones may be timed and charged at a higher rate.
