The Greek Orthodox Community of St George, Brisbane was established in 1929. It is the oldest established Greek community in south-east Queensland where the Greek descendant population numbers more than 25,000 people.
In addition to preserving the Greek Orthodox religion, the Community is proud to have built an organisation that provides support and services to the Greek and wider community.

During 1922, the first Parish Priest, Archimandrite David Maravelis arrived in Brisbane and accordingly held his services at St Luke's Anglican Church in Charlotte Street in the City.
