Foster Care Queensland was founded in 1976 and is administered by a management committee who are all Foster or Kinship carers.
Foster Care Queensland is a government funded organisation, the membership of which is open to all Foster, Kinship and Provisionally Approved carers, supporters with associate membership open to organisations. We are a government funded organisation, the membership of which is open to all Foster Carers (a term used here to mean registered Foster Carers, Kinship carers, Provisionally Approved carers and supporters) with associate membership being open to organisations.
Foster Care Queensland’s fundamental purpose is motivated by the desire to protect and care for children and young people who have already experienced harm or have been at risk of experiencing significant harm.
As a child protection charity we promote the prevention of behaviour that is harmful or abusive to children or young people when in the care of Foster and kinship carers. We recognise that children and young people not living with birth parents are one of the most vulnerable groups in the community.
