Blood Pressure Monitoring
Blood pressure refers to the pressure of blood in the arteries as it is being pumped around the body by the heart. That means the higher your blood pressure, the harder your heart has to work. Higher than normal blood pressure is called hypertension and is a key risk factor for both heart disease and stroke.
As an approximate guide, normal blood pressure is less than 120/80mmHg. High normal: between 120/80 and 140/90. High: more than 140/90. The larger number indicates the pressure in the arteries as the heart squeezes out blood during each beat. It is called the systolic blood pressure.

Quality Care Pharmacy Program
The Quality Care Program raises the standard of customer service in pharmacies across Australia to improve health outcomes. Quality Care Pharmacy accreditation puts our pharmacies with the best in the world. For the community, it means consumers can be assured of more contact with their pharmacist and well informed staff at both the dispensary and the retail counter.
Being assured of more direct contact with the pharmacist is of greatest importance to people with special medication needs, who often require the support of their pharmacist to manage a range of medications. For some people, it's as simple as being able to get advice about which cold and flu preparation would be compatible with their blood pressure medication.
Established in 1978, Capital Chemist has grown with Canberra and now has nineteen outlets in Canberra and several in country New South Wales including Batemans Bay, Ulladulla, Cooma, Temora and Junee. Capital Chemist is wholly-owned by a Canberra partnership of like-minded pharmacists dedicated to providing quality pharmaceutical and ancillary services to their clients
