About Us

Australian Workplace Strategies (AWS) is a specialist consultancy focusing on the support of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the areas of human resource management and industrial relations.

Founded by Gerard Nelson in 1994 following his tenure as the director of the Labour Market Strategy Group, with KPMG Peat Marwick. In 1995 the consultancy moved to form an alliance with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. This arrangement resulted in AWS providing advice to a significant number of business organisations serviced by Deloitte’s private client group. In 2007, AWS formed an alliance with leading law firm Parke Lawyers. An alliance such as this provides many client benefits.

AWS has maintained consistent growth in its consulting business since its inception in 1994. A feature of its service to clients and an indication of the strong support given to management is the large number of retainers held by AWS. Current clients include many household names in various commercial and industry sectors.

What We Do

AWS has had a number of requests from employees, as a result of referrals from existing clients, who have sought our advice usually in relation to termination.

It has not been our practice to advise employees, however because of the number of inquiries that have been received from employees it has been decided that AWS will provide this advice.

However, prospective clients will be screened and a decision will be made about our involvement with employees.
