Can I search by state?

All the location search fields are incorporated into one – making it even easier to search. Enter any location details that you have, like state, suburb or postcode. Or leave it blank if you'd like to run a national search.

Why is there no large text and text only option?

As part of our new look we've increased the size of text across much of the site, so it's easier to read. We've also made it simpler to resize text via your browser controls. And as we have improved White Pages® online to make it more accessible, we have removed the text only option.

To increase the text size in your browser follow these simple steps:

  • Select Text Size
  • Select Largest

By default this browser zooms in on the page. To disable this do the following:

  • Go to View menu
  • Go to Zoom menu item
  • Select Zoom Text Only

Once disabled, text can be resized using these shortcuts:

What is the "Share (Send to)" function?

Share, or Send to, enables you to send your favourite White Pages® Online listings to a variety of locations. These include sending to your mobile, email, and to your profile page on a number of social networking and blogging platforms.

What is Send to Mobile?

Send to Mobile gives you all the information you need while you're on the go. It works by sending White Pages® Online listings directly to your mobile via SMS. The SMS you receive contains listing details, plus a link to the listing in White Pages® Mobile. Send to Mobile is completely free of charge (note however that your standard network charges will apply when accessing White Pages® Mobile or White Pages® Online). We will not use the phone number for marketing purposes. For more information, please refer to the Send to Mobile Terms of Use.

What if Send to Mobile doesn't work?

When you use Send to Mobile you should receive an SMS right away, but if you don't, check the number and try again. If it still doesn't work after that it's quite possible we're experiencing technical problems, so wait a few minutes before giving it another go.

Please note: the link to White Pages® Mobile may not be compatible with all mobile devices. If you have any questions in regards to compatibility, please contact your mobile service provider.

What is Send to Email?

To share a listing, use the 'Send to:' menu beside the phone number, and complete the form. Recipients will receive an email with the listing information (but no phone number), as well as a link to the full listing on White Pages® Online.

What if Send to Email doesn't work?

It can sometimes take a while for an email to arrive at its destination. Allow a few hours for it to arrive, then either try again, or send to a different email address.

If you entered your email address in the "from" field, you may get a notification that it has failed. If this is the case, check the email address you're trying to send to, and try again.

What happens to the details I enter in the email?

We don't store the email addresses provided, nor do we use them for marketing purposes. For more information, please refer to the Save to My List Terms of Use.

I keep getting sent emails with White Pages® listings, how do I stop receiving them?

If you are receiving emails with White Pages® listings but don't want to receive them anymore, there are a few ways you can achieve this.

If you're receiving the emails from a person you know, you can ask them to stop sending you the listings. You can also set up filters in your email software to block the emails. Or you can opt out using a link at the bottom of the email.

Alternately, you can visit this page and enter your email address and click 'Submit'.

Once your email address has been added, you will no longer be able to receive any listings or "My List" messages sent to you by your family or friends. You can always get it unblocked at a later date if you change your mind (see below).

I have blocked my email from being sent White Pages® listings and now want to receive them. How do I do this?

If you want to start receiving listings via email, please contact us, let us know your email address that you'd like to have unblocked, and we'll unblock it for you.

Once the blocking has been removed you'll be able to start receiving the listings again.

What are the other items in Share (Send to)?

You can also share selected listing content from White Pages® Online to social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. You will need an account with each of the sites or services you wish to send a listing to.

What if these other sites don't work?

The sites you can post to are not operated by White Pages® or Sensis. We cannot guarantee that these sites will always be available or that sending listing information to them will work as expected. If they are not available, or sending a listing to them doesn't work, you may need to wait until they are available again. Please refer to the Share Service Terms of Use "Third Party Sites".

What is 'My List'?

'My List' helps you save and share your favourite Business, Government and Residential contacts on White Pages® Online to an easy to access list, so you can find them quickly without having to search again.

You can access your list from the 'My List' link above the search boxes.

What can I do with 'My List'?

You can personalise your list's name, add and delete contacts, and share your list with others. You can view all your saved contacts in a list, or view them on a map using the map view.

'My Lists' can only be edited and shared from the computer they are created on, so anyone (including yourself) viewing your list from another computer will be able to access the contents of the list, but not change the list itself.

If you sign up for a White Pages® account, you are able to access your list from any computer with a web browser and internet connection. Additional features in this include the ability to create multiple lists, and add notes against each listing you save.

To share your list, use the 'Send to a Friend' link and complete the form. Recipients will receive an email copy of your list with direct links to your saved contacts, as well as a link to the latest version of your 'My List' on White Pages® Online.

If you change your list after sending it, recipients will see the revised version of your list on the website but can still access all the contents of the original list you sent them from their email.

Is My List private?

Your list is private unless:

  • you have shared it with someone, and they've then either published it online (via a website or similar);
  • someone else visits the White Pages® Online site and accesses your list from your computer (ie the computer on which you created the list); or
  • someone has viewed it accidentally by entering the URL to access the list.

However, the My List site is not a secure site and so, as with most information on the Internet, there is a risk it could be viewed or shared by third parties. Accordingly, we recommend that you treat the content of your list (and any personalisation you add to it including notes) as though it is available for viewing by any member of the general public.

How do I add something to My List?

When you do a search on White Pages® Online you will see a plus symbol "+" beside the phone numbers. If you want to save that particular phone number, hover over the plus symbol, and select the "Add to My List" option.

The contact information will be saved to your list.

What are the links with icons next to them?

They link to websites that businesses use to help promote their business, including Facebook®, Twitter®, LinkedIn, MySpace® and YouTube®.

Why is the link not working?

There may be technical issues with the link.

Why do some links not have icons?

Links to a business' own website, blog or email address do not include icons.

What is a Blog?

Blogs are websites that allow users to reflect, share opinions, and discuss various topics in the form of an online journal. Blogs also allow readers to comment on posts by the author.

What is Facebook®?

Facebook® is a social networking website. Webpages that communicate information about a business can be created on Facebook®.

What is the Facebook® speech bubble?

It's a speech bubble that displays a business' latest Facebook® status update. This can appear on an eligible White Pages® Business or Government search result page.

Why do I get the message 'Sorry, we can't show you the latest feed at the moment. You may want to try again later.' in the Facebook® speech bubble?

There maybe a technical issue with the link.

What is Twitter®?

Twitter® is a social networking service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as 'followers'.

What is the Twitter® speech bubble?

It's a speech bubble that displays a businesses latest Tweet. This can appear on a Business or Government listing.

Why do I get the message 'Sorry, we can't show you the latest feed at the moment. You may want to try again later.' in the Twitter® speech bubble? 

There maybe a technical issue with the link. This could also result from capacity limits on the Twitter® site.

You may wish to try again in an hour for the content to return to the speech bubble.

What is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site. It is mainly used for professional networking.

What is MySpace®?

MySpace® is a social networking website.

What is a RSS Feed?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. An RSS feed contains content from a website, making it possible for people to keep up with their favourite websites automatically, rather than checking them manually.

What is YouTube®?

YouTube® is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos.

What is Flickr®?

Flickr® is an image and video sharing website and an online community.

What is Foursquare?

Foursquare is a location-based social networking website, mobile application and game. Users "check-in" at venues. They are then awarded points and sometimes "badges".

What is Citysearch®?

Citysearch® is an online city guide that provides information about businesses in the categories of restaurants, bars & clubs in cities throughout Australia.

What is Skype®?

Skype® is an application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users within the Skype® service are free, while calls to both traditional landline telephones and mobile phones can be made for a nominal fee using a debit-based user account system.

What is the 'Call us on Skype®' link?

It's a link that allows you to make a call to a business via your Skype® account on your computer.

Why won't anything happen when I click the Skype® link?

You may not have the Skype® application installed and will need to download and install the Skype® application from here.

Why do I get an error message when I click the Skype® link?

You may not have the Skype® application installed and will need to download and install the Skype® application from here.

Why won't the business respond to me when I talk to them on Skype®?

The business may be offline or busy. Skype® will leave a message letting them know that you have attempted to call. The business may then call you back if they wish to do so.

Why can't I hear anything after the business has answered my Skype® call?

Check the speaker volume setting on your computer and in Skype® to make sure the volume is on.

The business may not have a microphone installed on their computer.

Why can't the business hear me speaking to them on Skype®?

The business may not have their speaker volume on for their computer or in Skype®.

You may not have a microphone installed on your computer.

What is Google® Talk?

Google® Talk is an application for instant text messaging over internet.

What is the 'Chat with us on Google® Talk' link?

It's a link that can automatically open your Google® Talk Messenger to begin messaging a business or add a business's Google® Talk Id to your Google Talk® contact list.

Why do I get an error message when I click the 'Launch Google® Talk' or 'Start Chatting' links?

You may not have the Google® Talk Messenger application installed and will need to download and install it here.

Why won't the business respond to my message on Google® Talk?

Make sure you have requested to be added to the business' Google® Talk contact list. You can only chat with a business once they have accepted your request.

Even if the business has accepted your request to be added to their contact list, they must also be logged into their Google® Talk Messenger to receive and respond to your message. The business' response may also be delayed due to them being busy or not at their computer.

Corresponding Google® Talk icons are used to communicate when they are Available to chat, Idle, Busy or Offline. These icons are further explained here.

What is Sales & Support Team chat?

It's an instant messaging application within a business' website allowing customers to instantly chat to a business' sales or support team.

What is eBay®?

eBay® is an online auction and shopping website in which people and businesses buy and sell a broad variety of goods and services worldwide.

What is Amazon®?

Amazon.com® is an electronic commerce website allowing businesses to sell a broad variety of goods and services via the internet.

What is Trading Post?

Trading Post is Australia's number one classifieds website with 1000's of bargains. You can buy and sell everything from cars, motorbikes, furniture & pets.

What is an App?

An App is an Application published through Apple®, specifically developed for the Apple iPhone®, iPod Touch® and iPad.

How do I update my Business or Government listing?

Looking to update or add information to your business or government listing? It's easy – all you have to do is fill out this form.

How do I update my residential listing?

If you're placing a new entry, need to update an existing one or would like a silent number, please contact your telephone service provider.

If you're a Telstra Mobile non-business customer requesting a new mobile entry, or you'd like to change the name or address of an existing mobile entry, contact Telstra Mobile customer service on 125 111.

Why can't I find the person or business I'm looking for?

If the person or business you're looking for has a silent listing, then you won't be able to find them. But if you're sure the number is listed, there are a few things you can do.

Firstly, check that you've entered the name and address correctly. If you're looking in a residential area, try refining your search by entering an initial and suburb. If the system can't find a match, it will expand the search automatically. No luck? Try expanding your search to a state or national level.

Can I find my friend's address if I only have their phone number?

Unfortunately we can't help you do that at this point in time as it is not allowed under the Telecommunications Act. To find someone on whitepages.com.au you'll need a surname and any address information you have.

What if I find information that's incorrect?

We're keen to make sure the information we provide is up-to-date, so if you find a listing that's incorrect Contact Us, or call customer care on 1800 810 211.

Directoryselect is the website home for book orders and cancellations across White Pages® and Yellow Pages®. On this site you are able to place an order for additional books, or opt-out of book deliveries. Visit www.directoryselect.com.au for more information.
Sydney and Melbourne White Pages® book order process
From 2011, residents in Melbourne and Sydney will be asked to confirm that they would like to receive the Residential White Pages® book prior to delivery. The Business and Government book will be delivered automatically with an invitation to order a Residential book either by;

- Collecting one from your local Australia Post outlet.
