Mr Matthew McDonald provides a comprehensive Neurosurgical & Spinal service based at Wakefield Hospital, Adelaide, Australia. We have a dedicated Neurosurgical Ward and Theatre team. Our operating theatre has the latest technology and equipment , and is supported by a large Intensive Care Unit. The hospital has the only 24 hour private Emergency Department in Adelaide.


All patients have private rooms.

Mr McDonald is also a Visiting Medical Specialist in the Department of Neurosurgery at Flinders Medical Centre and attached to the Spinal Unit, at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Mr McDonald does provide a regular county clinic at Naracoorte Hospital in the South East.


About Matthew McDonald

Matthew McDonald is a fully trained neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon. He undertook neurosurgical training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Royal Brisbane Hospital, completing his FRACS in 2000. He has completed further sub-specialist training in complex spine surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Miami, Florida, USA.


Matthew McDonald is a visiting neurosurgeon at Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is also appointed as a spinal surgeon to the Spinal Unit, RAH. His private practice is based at the Calvary Wakefield Hospital and Flinders Private Hospital.
